The Gourmand

18.07.12

was asked by my friend Dave lane to contribute to the first edition of food and culture journal, "The Gourmand"

For full info on the publication, visit the website

The concept I came up was was to represent design movements of the 20th century through specially arranged plates of appropriate food, finished with hand cut paper tablecloth backgrounds.

Photography by Luke Kirwan

The Gourmand is a new magazine about food and the culture thereof. It is not gourmet; it isn’t precious or on-trend or uninteresting (in the way only those people tasked with trying to eat tiny leaning-tower-of-Pisa-style plates of food might find it interesting). A gourmand is a person who “takes pleasure and interest in food of all kinds” and the contents of this publication reflect that.
